Finding the right solicitor shouldn’t be another battle.
Finding a solicitor who understands how to defend allegations of domestic abuse can be challenging. Finding one who may also be able to offer legal aid can be even more difficult.
At DADSS, we understand how frightening and overwhelming it can be to face allegations of domestic abuse, particularly when you dispute the allegations being made against you.
That’s why we have established a panel of experienced solicitors who understand these cases and can provide the specialist legal advice and representation you may need.
The DADSS Solicitor Panel
All solicitors working with DADSS have experience dealing with domestic abuse allegations and family court proceedings. Depending on your circumstances, they can assist with matters including:
Non-Molestation Orders
Occupation Orders
Domestic Abuse Protection Orders
Child Arrangements Orders
Prohibited Steps Orders
Allegations of domestic abuse within children proceedings
Preparing statements and evidence
Representing you at family court hearings
Advice on responding to allegations you believe are false
Whether you have just received court papers or are already involved in proceedings, getting the right advice at an early stage can help you understand your position and the options available to you.
Reduced Fees for DADSS Clients
We know that the cost of obtaining legal representation can be a major concern.
Solicitors joining the DADSS panel agree to provide our clients with a substantially reduced hourly rate compared with their normal private-client charges.
Some panel solicitors may also be able to offer a fixed fee for particular pieces of work or stages of your case, giving you greater certainty about what your legal costs will be.
What About Legal Aid?
Legal aid for family law cases involving domestic abuse can be complicated, and eligibility depends on both your circumstances and the type of legal assistance you require.
Not every case will qualify for legal aid and, importantly, legal aid is not generally available simply because you are defending an application such as a Non-Molestation Order.
However, solicitors on the DADSS panel undertake legal aid work. Where you may qualify, we can try to connect you with an appropriate solicitor who can assess your eligibility.
Solicitors Who Understand Your Position
Being accused of domestic abuse can affect many areas of your life — your relationship with your children, your home, your employment and sometimes your reputation.
If you believe allegations made against you are false or misleading, you need a solicitor who will listen to your account, examine the evidence and explain clearly how you can respond.
The solicitors working with DADSS understand the particular difficulties faced by people accused of domestic abuse and can advise you on the best way to present your position to the court.
